This morning the world woke up to the sad news that Professor Steven Hawkins had passed away.
Visionary Physicist
It has been reported that he passed peacefully at his home in Cambridge, aged 76.
Steven Hawkins, whose life was dominated by incurable motor neurone disease, was a world renowned physicist and absolutely recognisable to all.
Many of those who are paying tributes to the legend have said: “A star just went out…”

14th March, 2018
So on the same day that will always be associated as the day a legend died – what else do we associate with the 14th March?
Firstly, it’s ‘Steak Day;’ a satrical holiday created in America in response to Valentines Day which is exactly a month ago. However, with everything else going on in the world today, it just doesn’t seem as funny this year…
Ironically, today is also Science Education Day – how fitting. Started in 2014, Science Education Day is a chance to celebrate and say thank you to all those who share their passion for science with kids and adults everywhere.
Also, today is the birthday of another fellow Physicist, Albert Einstein. Einstein was German-born and developed the Theory of Relativity.
Lastly, today is the 30th anniversary of Pi Day. A day renowned for eating freshly baked Pie, whilst remembering and learning about geometry, maths and irrational numbers.

Intelligance Is The Ability To Adapt To Change
It goes without saying that today will be a sad day for millions all over the world. Hawkins not only defied odds with his incurable disease, but he went on to produce some of the best scientific theories there ever will be.
Rest in peace Professor Hawkins. And ‘however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up!’
